Frequently asked questions
My driveway is only twelve years old. Should it be failing?
Not if the base was built properly. Twelve years is early for a well built slab in this climate and it usually points at what is underneath rather than at the concrete itself.
Is this covered by a builder warranty?
Usually not by the time it shows, because these failures typically surface well after warranty periods end. It is worth checking your paperwork, but do not count on it.
Will replacing it just produce the same result?
Not if the base is corrected and the drainage addressed, which is the whole point of the exercise. A replacement built properly is a different product from the one it replaces.
Should I replace the builder patio slab or extend it?
Very often the answer is both, because these slabs are usually undersized as well as underbuilt. Replacing and resizing in one pour costs less than doing it in two stages.
Everyone on my street is getting quotes. Is there any advantage to that?
