Should I repair or replace my concrete?
Repair if the problem is confined to the surface and the slab is still level and stable. Replace if panels have moved relative to each other, a section has settled or lifted, or new cracks keep appearing, because those indicate the ground under the slab is moving and a repair sits on top of the real problem. Every concrete replacement and repair work project GoldenPaw takes begins the same way: a site visit, a drainage and grading assessment, and a written scope of work that shows base depth, slab thickness, reinforcement, joint layout, and finish as separate lines you can read and compare. We do not quote this work over the phone, because a number given before anyone has seen the site is a number that changes once we do.
The reason we lead with the scope rather than the price is that in this trade the number on its own tells you almost nothing. Two quotes for the same patio can differ by thousands and be describing genuinely different structures, and the difference is usually buried in the part you will never see: the base underneath. That is where a bid gets shaved, and it is the single largest factor in how the slab ages through central Indiana freeze-thaw cycling.

This is usually where the original job failed. Re-establishing a properly compacted base, correcting the fall, and addressing the drainage issue that caused the failure in the first place.
Repour and finish matching
Pouring back to the correct depth and reinforcement, matching finish and joint pattern to the adjacent concrete where a match is achievable.

Should I repair my driveway or replace it?
It depends on what is actually wrong. Surface spalling and isolated cracks on a slab with a sound base are often worth repairing. Widespread heaving, multiple settled sections, or a slab that was poured thin on an uncompacted base is usually replacement work, because repairs sit on top of the original problem. We give you the read at the site visit rather than defaulting to the more expensive answer.
Why did my concrete crack or heave in the first place?
In central Indiana the two usual causes are freeze-thaw cycling and uneven soil beneath the slab. Water gets under or into the concrete, freezes, expands, and lifts. Clay-heavy soil compounds it because it holds water and moves seasonally. A downspout or grade that sends roof water toward the slab accelerates all of it.
Can you replace just one section?
Sometimes. Sectional replacement works when the failure is isolated and the surrounding slab is sound. Be aware that a new section will not color-match a weathered one exactly, and we will tell you that before you decide rather than after you see it.
Do you do concrete leveling or mudjacking?
Our work is poured concrete: removal and replacement rather than lifting. If a slab is a genuine candidate for leveling rather than replacement, we will say so, even though it is not work we are quoting.
Will you fix the drainage problem too?
Grading and drainage correction that is part of making the concrete work correctly is quoted as part of the project. We do not offer grading or excavation as a standalone service separate from a concrete job.
How soon can I drive on a replaced driveway?
Concrete needs cure time before it takes vehicle weight, and rushing it is how a new driveway develops cracks in its first year. Your written scope includes the cure window and when the surface is ready for foot traffic versus vehicles.
